Drakkar: Classified is at the same time our gift to the fans and a portrait, however small, of what the band has been in the last 5 years.
Coming to terms with the departure of Chris from the role of drummer was very tough, as well as finding a pace for the band that would allow us to keep it alive despite our “real life” problems. No one of us makes a living from Drakkar, we all have to do other jobs and sometimes it’s just hard to find the time and energy to dedicate to music, even if that’s your greatest passion. In the end, though, we made it. We made it thanks to the fans, who never stopped giving us support. We made it thanks to ourselves, and our unquenchable thirst for metal.
Drakkar: Classified is a compilation of songs we’ve written and recorded during this most difficult time in the life of the band. It reflects the particular moments we’ve lived in these years and it’s probably not a very true portrait of what we are today. But it’s a little opus that we’re very proud of. I strongly believe that, despite how different these songs are, compared to what we’re doing now (a difference that justifies the reason not to use them in the new album that we’re preparing), they still are four of the best songs we’ve ever done. I hope you will enjoy them as we still do, and that the decision to give them absolutely for free is something that can repay you all for never giving up hope that Drakkar could come back, and hopefully still be good.
